The Beijing Tour
We were in Beijing as our large tour group for week. Check out the China Horizons website or Facebook page for more pictures and updates from the tour. A quick recap of some things we did include touring the pearl and jade factories, major shopping at the silk/cheap markets, the Olympic area and Olympic cube, watched a Kung Fu show, saw statues, temples, and the summer palace, we also went to Tienanmen's square and saw the Forbidden City. In addition to the group events we went to some night markets, a pretty lake with a bunch of restaurants, clubs, and shops surrounding it, and we had some interesting adventures just touring the city and riding the bus :)

THE GREAT WALL
Hiking up the billions of stairs to the top of the great wall was one of the best parts of the trip. It was hard work to get up them and survive the burning in your calves. In fact their is a Chinese saying that you are not a real man until you have climbed the great wall. Once at the top it was so worth every step.
| I couldn't help thinking about how difficult it must have been to build this wall. About half way up we were dying and they had to carry bricks on their back! I heard that the great wall is also one of the longest cemeteries because of all the people who died and were buried along it that helped build the wall. It was amazing to see how perfect the wall was after all these years.
