Perming my hair for the first time EVER in CHINA!

I have been wanting to perm my hair for years, but it is so expensive in the US and everyone tells me how much it will damage my hair... Luckily in China women perm their hair all the time. In fact, while I was there about 3 other women were getting their hair permed. Plus, I was the first foreigners hair they did, so I got lots of special treatment.
First their are some differences between China hair salons and the US. In China many young and attractive boys work in the salons. The men always look like models here, so sometimes they look a little like they may be gay, but most of the time they are not. Needless to say I really enjoyed the salon!
I don't know how, but most Chinese people just look like they are ready for a fashion shoot. They always are dressed perfectly and the women wear skirts and heels no matter where they go. Not bringing sweats to China is still one of my biggest regrets... it is freaking hard to find sweats over here and they only carry them in the men sections usually.
Anyways my perm ended up being a great success. I probably will get tighter curls next time, but I love it. Even better it only cost me 144 kuay... or like 25 bucks for a cut and a perm! That's way better than I would have gotten in the US!
Big thank you once again to Orange! She and Rosy hooked me up with a great deal, plus they stayed with me for an hour or so while I was getting it done. The whole ting took about 2 and a half hours! It was intense, but so worth it!

xi tou = hair washIn China this simple xi tou (hair wash) is only 15 yuan or aout 2.50 American dollars. They wash your hair, massage your head, then they style your hair super good. They spent so much time doing the other girls hair and they all looked fantastic! It was so fun for all of us... we will definitely get it done again!

| Perm LadyI only got one other perm ladies picture, but most of the time instead of hooking you to all those electric chords like mine, they put your hair in a steamer. That's what hers was. All of the ladies perms turned out great. Mine looked the scariest while they were doing it though ha ha.
